Established in 2001, our culture is to support our clients with the sector leading expertise they need to meet their project and business requirements, resulting in a practice built on repeat business and engineering excellence.
We are one of the largest privately owned building services design consultancies in the UK and employ over 70 members of staff across our four UK offices. We have an experienced team and use the latest design tools to support and advise our clients from project inception through to building operation; offering a whole life approach in the delivery of our consultancy services.
With the experience and expertise of our staff, who have worked within both consultancy and specialist contracting environments, we are able to offer a differentiated approach in delivering the range of our services for all project types; be they refurbishment, new construction, maintenance or energy improvement.
We pride ourselves on the level of “buildability” and co-ordination across our projects that give our clients confidence in our solutions; delivering cost certainty and a level of design to installation standards.
Continual investment in the latest design software and staff development is fundamental to our business. We embrace information delivery and co-ordination techniques such as BIM and use the latest design software packages including AutoDesk Revit ME and IES VE.
One of Anderson Greens differentiated services is M&E cost consultancy. With in-house experts and extensive costs database, we can assist in evaluating projects from the earliest stage by offering cost plan assessments through to full pre tender estimates and construction stage valuation and variation reviews.
Our understanding of cost and design provides the added value to the services we offer and enable us to track project “design to cost” scenarios and raise early warnings on design to cost risks borne by development in the design process or client brief.
In support of the UK Armed Forces and our Defence Division, we are current holders of the Employers Recognition Scheme Gold Award, this in acknowledgement of our teams’ efforts in providing services and backing to serving members, reservist and retiring members of the Armed Forces.

As part of this spotlight on Anderson Green, we would like to take the opportunity to pen our observations of the current global Carbon agenda and how this will impact on the UK construction market.
Whilst the issue of the Greenhouse effect and increasing carbon emissions has been around for many years, the recent acceptance of the Climate Emergency has necessitated the acceleration of carbon reduction targets.
There are a number of initiatives and processes in place that can help and assist in delivering a low carbon building and the majority of these will be familiar to the readers of this page. From national compliances through Part L of the Building Regulations to local initiatives through local planning core strategies and voluntary compliances from initiatives such as BREEAM; Passivhaus; AECB; Green Building Council; net Zero Carbon; net Zero Carbon in operation to name but a few. The Voluntary compliances form a design & construction framework that can achieve great results, but it will be the mandatory compliances that enforce our commitment.
The Department for Education is also playing its part. The next phase of the school’s construction framework (due for roll out in November 2021) will use the major update to the Output Specification (March 2021) to deliver schools that are net zero carbon in operation; high levels of onsite generation and the requirement to provide a net gain to onsite biodiversity.
Further Education projects funded through FE Capital transformation fund now need to prove commitment to the net zero agenda to secure funding. And both construction streams seek to deliver fossil fuel free buildings and to future proof internal environments against climate change overheating adaptions.
This new requirements in the education sector will change the way we need to approach our design and construction methodologies and the industry will need to get to grips with them quickly if we are going to be able to meet the traditionally tight design programmes.
The residential sector has seen a changes in the way energy is distributed through multi-occupancy apartment buildings. Heat networks, utilising Heat interface units, which have traditionally incorporated high temperature energy solutions such as CHP and gas fired boilers are now needing to work with lower temperature heat pumps and new technical guidance on heat networks, placing a greater emphasis on distribution and diversity across the building.
We have seen recent changes to the hospitality sector in recent years with greater emphasis on the sustainable operation of their businesses with more operators understanding that not only is sustainable design helpful in controlling their high energy bills, but that more and more of their customers are.
Energy & Sustainability is one of Anderson Green’s core specialisms. We deliver strategic and technical support for all projects types and wider policy implementation, this from inception through to post occupancy evaluations. Our dedicated team provide expert advice on influences around Sustainability, Energy, Carbon & Renewable strategies, daylighting, overheating & climate change mitigation strategies.
Our team are experienced with accredited schemes such as BREEAM, DREAM, WELL, LEED & Non- Residential Passive House.
