BWB – Part of the Nottingham Skyline since 1990

BWB was founded in Nottingham in 1990 and over the past 33 years has played a significant role in making Nottingham the great city it is today.

We have proudly contributed to many of the most notable and major developments in the city, from the Corner House and HMRC at Trinity Square on the northside of the city centre, the Hicking Building in the Southside Regeneration area, Beeston Town Centre redevelopment to the west and the River Crescent residential development on the banks of the River Trent.

Our growth and continued development through delivering projects such as those above cumulated in a huge highlight for BWB, being judged to be the Best Large UK Consultant in 2022.

This was from a shortlist of some of our industry’s biggest and best-known names at the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) awards.

These prestigious awards highlight our outstanding achievements within our profession, by highlighting the best people, projects and companies from the world of engineering consultancy and the built environment.

BWB are also recognised as an Investors in People Platinum standard business for our outstanding achievements in people development and corporate culture - the only Large UK Engineering Consultancy to obtain this recognition.

In our home city of Nottingham, we recently completed in delivering the new 348 apartment PRS project on Queens Road with Bloc Group and Graham Construction. The project is a new residential development located adjacent to the railway station that comprises a 10-storey residential block with commercial units to the first floor.

Of further note, BWB is very proud to have worked alongside Nottingham City Council and Galliford Try in delivering the now multi award winning Broadmarsh Car Park and Bus Station, which includes the new Central Library. The project represents an important first step in revitalising the southern gateway to the city centre.

As part of the regeneration of the southern gateway, BWB have been involved in a number of other high profile projects, having recently completed the new Unity Square office building opposite Nottingham station for Sladen Estates and Peveril Securities, the new Vita student accommodation on Station Street and the 350 apartment Saffron Court PRS scheme on Crocus Street for Cassidy Group.

Further afield we are currently working on the new rail freight terminal and logistics scheme at Radlett for SEGRO.

The land is strategically located close to the M1, M25 and A1(M) and sits alongside the Midland Main Line railway. Under SEGRO’s ownership the site will be developed into a strategic rail freight interchange supported by up to 3.6 million square feet of modern, sustainable logistics warehousing, including ancillary B1 (office, light industrial, research and development) and B2 (general industrial) warehouses.

BWB are providing a wide range of services throughout the project life-cycle, including acting as lead designers for Areas 1 & 2, Civil and Structural Engineers, Principal Designer, and Facilities Management input.

Work has commenced work on-site and it is anticipated that the completed scheme will deliver around 4,000 jobs, with a further c. 500 jobs generated on site during construction.

Of huge importance to BWB is supporting the communities where we work, as such we have chosen this year to support BASE51 as our regional charity.

BASE51’s values of inclusion, an emphasis on physical and mental well-being, and support to allow young people to be their whole selves, resonates strongly with our core values to care, transform, integrate and challenge.

All of us at BWB are looking forward to continue working closely with BASE51 to make Nottingham a more sustainable place for our young people, and further complementing our involvement here by supporting STEM activity in our local schools.

With our head office in the city centre, BWB continues to play an important role in the regeneration of Nottingham and the surrounding area, being a part of the important conversations across the city, building a better place for all.
